Future Jazz provides the best instruction for musicians Grade 6-12 at affordable prices and convenient locations. Students will rehearse once a week and have at least two concerts per semester. The cost to be in either ensemble is $50 a month. (We offer financial assistance for those who need it.) Students will study and play traditional jazz music, as well as play new and commissioned music by some of the best composers in the country! Future Jazz is not here to replace the student’s current music educational experience, but to be a supplement to it. It will allow kids to work and interact with others outside of their current school districts. We strive to create a sense of community and diversity in youth and adults alike.
Auditions (Placement only) will be concert Bb,F, and C major scales, sight reading, and improvise two choruses on an F Blues.
Drummers demonstrate swing, bossa, and jazz ballad feels.
Vocalists bring one acapella piece in the jazz idiom, sight reading, and optional scatting over an F Blues.
Overland Park instrumental and vocal ensembles will meet on Tuesdays starting on January 14 . Times are from 4:30-6:30 or 6:30-8:30, depending on ensemble placement.
Overland Park placements/auditions will be on Tuesday January 7th
4-6PM.
